Residency

A marriage license takes 2 days to obtain and the couple must be on island for these 2 days.

Documentation

a) To obtain a marriage license, passports and birth certificates must be provided when applying.

b) If either party is divorced, a copy of the final decree is needed.

c) If either party is widowed, a death certificate of the deceased spouse must be presented.

d) The cost for obtaining a license is about US$300.

Wedding Coordinators

Many hotels in St. Lucia have wedding coordinators who will coordinate all of the paperwork necessary to get married. There is also an independent company called Awesome Caribbean Weddings that coordinates weddings in unique and interesting venues outside of hotel environments.

Sandals Resorts offers free wedding planner software at www.sandals.com, a real benefit for anyone contemplating a honeymoon. Look under the category "Planning Your Honeymoon." Anyone downloading the software does not have to book a honeymoon at one of Sandal's 3 St. Lucia resorts.

Sandals also offers a free basic wedding package to guests who stay for 5 nights. Because of the 2 day necessary to obtain a marriage license, (see below), 5 nights is probably a minimal honeymoon stay.

They also throw in a set of Wedgewood china. Not bad.
