Time: 0.5-hours to the top. Difficulty: 1-2, a relatively easy walk popular with locals and tourists. Trailhead: At the village of Belle Vue on the Atlantic coast.

This area gained its name from the vervet (green) monkeys often spotted here. The path climbing the hill, 1,319-feet high, goes by the ruins of "The Glen," a former great house.

From the top you'll have excellent views of fertile Basseterre Valley and the Caribbean coast.

However, the best place for a close-up look at monkeys is at the primate research station at Estridge Estate open to the public on Sundays.
