Directions: Near the central interior of the island. From Utuado, continue west on Rt. 111 to km. 12.3. From Lares, go south on Rt. 129, east on Rt. 111 toward Utuado.

These 800-year-old stone playing fields located eight miles west of Utuado were built by the Tainos for ballgames and religious ceremonies. Covering 13 acres, it is a landscaped and shaded site with native trees, including royal palms and guava.

Each of the ball courts was named for a different Taino chief, and several are bordered with stone monoliths. One ball court wall is famous for its petroglyphs.

The Institute of Puerto Rican Culture operates the small museum open daily 8:30-4:30; 787/894-7325. Free admission.
