The Drums

Bahamas Junkanoo Festival Parade Music 6 copyright M. Timothy O'Keefe - www.GuideToCaribbeanVacations.com

Whistles are one of the most important noise makers of Junkanoo. They've replaced many of the old home-made instruments such as conch shell horns and rattling poinciana pods.

But it's the powerful drums, a reminder of the celebration's African roots, that provide the pounding vibrating rhythms that make Junkanoo so unforgettable.
