Where to Stay: Nevis has many good hotels, some quite expensive. In the moderate price range is Hurricane Cove Bungalows situated on a hillside. Also consider the 34-unit Oualie Beach Hotel located on Oualie Beach; Web site: www.oualiebeach.com. The unpretentious restaurant serves excellent local seafood dishes. In contrast to the luxurious Four Seasons (the bathrooms alone are the size of a studio apartment) on Pinney's Beach is the island's best. With its own 18-hole golf course, rooms are over US$600 per day in winter; 800/332-3442; www.fourseasons.com. The Mount Nevis Hotel, which has a wonderful view of St. Kitts across the channel, is located near the airport. Its restaurant is renowned. Web site: www.mountnevishotel.com. Keep in mind that it's warmer and more humid at the beach hotels. The mountain retreats, though cooler, tend to get more rain. Camping: In keeping with the upscale tone of the island, you won't find any designated camping facilities, although there is a field near the base of Mount Nevis where climbers can overnight when accompanied by a local guide.
