Time: 2.5 hours to hike over Mt. Horeb , which will bring you to a road; another 30 minutes to take the road back to Newcastle. Difficulty: 2-3. Trailhead: Depart from the Old Stables Inn (over 160 years old) in Newcastle.

The Fairy Glades Trail can either be hiked separately or used as a connecting link with other tracks. This is one of the prettiest spots in all the Blue Mountains.

Hundreds of varieties of ferns, including huge tree ferns, and orchids grow in this misty, humid place. You will walk through several different forest systems, including montane and elfin woodland.

Not a particularly difficult trail, it may require a few scrambles at the outset, the rocks can be slippery and expect a few steep sections.

On top of Mt. Horeb, you'll be at 4,894 feet, not high by Jamaican standards but still one the Caribbean 's loftier peaks.

After Mt. Horeb, you emerge onto the concrete road that will take you back to Newcastle. Or, turn right and head up to Catherine's Peak.
