Required Documents

Non-residents need to seek a special license from the Deputy Chief Secretary's office on the third floor of the Government Administration Building, Grand Cayman, telephone (345) 244-2222.

Or at the District Commissioner's office, Government Administration Building, Cayman Brac, telephone (345) 948-2222.

Or from the District Administration representing the Governor on Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

Phone ahead for an appointment and the process takes only about 30 minutes.

a) Original or certified birth certificate or passport to provide ID

B) Cayman Islands international embarkation/disembarkation card or ship's boarding pass

c) Certified or original copies of divorce decrees or death certificates involving previous spouses.

d) A fee of CI$150 (US$180) and a CI$10 postage stamp must accompany the documents. Stamps may be purchased from the government office or from any post office.

e) The licence must be produced to the marriage officer performing the ceremony. The license becomes void if not used within 3 months of being issued.

f) Anyone under the age of 18 must have notarized consent from their father or, if the father is dead, by a lawful guardian. If there is no guardian, an unmarried mother may give consent.

g) 2 witnesses must attend the marriage.

h) Marriages must take place between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Note: Liquor licensing laws state that live music must not be played on Sunday in places licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
